After Braces
Your braces are off? Congratulations!
Now that the braces are off, you've been given a set of retainers
that will help your teeth stay in place. This is a crucial part of your treatment, and will make sure that your new, beautiful smile is
yours for years to come.
Take good care of your retainers. Wear them all the time, or as instructed by Dr. Bruce. You may take them out for breakfast, lunch and dinner only. Your retainers should stay in for snacks.
Insert retainers with your fingers. Do not bite them in place.
Do not play with them with your tongue.
If your retainers are not in your mouth, be sure to keep them in
their retainer case. Do not place them in your pocket or wrap them
in a napkin. They will break or get thrown out.
A new set of
retainers is expensive. Do you want to break open your piggy bank?
To keep your retainers clean, you can brush them with a toothbrush and toothpaste, or soak them in Efferdent™ or Polident™.
Please do not try to repair the retainers with your own epoxy or super glue.
